Did you know that the Botanical Garden SP is within a Protected Area? Here you will find information on a myriad of plant species, will watch the animals interacting with their surroundings, and will be completely immersed in nature while walking through the Mata Atlântica Biosphere Reserve, Brazil’s Atlantic rainforest.

Botanical Gardens play a fundamental role in society, contributing to species conservation, carrying out scientific research, developing sustainable practices, and participating in educational activities that enable people to connect with nature.

BOTANIC GARDEN CONSERVATION INTERNATIONAL - BGCI

The Botanical Garden SP is a Botanic Garden Conservation Internacional (BGCI) member, the largest global flora conservation network in the world. More than 500 members from 100 countries comprise the community, among Botanical Gardens, Botanical Institutions, and Seed Banks, to encourage plant conservation and public engagement for the cause.

Educational Visits

Learning, connecting and acting to preserve nature

Students and teachers can experience the magical plants’ world firsthand through our Educational Visits Program. Get detailed information for schools and universities. Scheduling the Educational Visits can be done via email. Visits occur Monday through Friday, both mornings and afternoons, for groups between 20 and 50 people.

RESTROOMS

All restrooms are handicap accessible in the Botanical Garden SP, both women’s and men’s. They are distributed strategically throughout the garden’s many lanes.

WATER FOUNTAINS

All water fountains are handicap accessible, and they are distributed throughout the whole Garden area.

WHEELCHAIRS

The Botanical Garden SP does not have wheelchairs available on site.

ACCESS RAMPS

The Greenhouses Dr. Frederico Carlos Hoehne are historical buildings and their structure could not be altered to include access ramps. The Botanical Museum, however, has access ramps.
